Essentials Of Training For Kilimanjaro

Although many have the desire of reaching the Kilimanjaro summit many think it is not possible. But with sufficient training for Kilimanjaro the goal is possible. The only time it will not be so is if there is a medical condition that is totally debilitating. Even those with the use of just one proper functioning leg have achieved climbing one of Africa's highest mountains.

The main requirement is being able to deal with an extremely high altitude. This will determine the ultimate success. Sufficient preparation for climbing the highest mountain on the African continent will create a success path to the summit and the return down. Spend time preparing for the goal and it will be thoroughly enjoyable.

The first step in training is by strengthening the lower body. This needs to commence three months ahead of the actual climbing. Exercising the lower body is achievable at most gyms. A machine for leg pressing movement is necessary for strengthening muscles in front of the thigh as well as the quadriceps. Use gym equipment for hip abduction as they work for stabilization. A machine for thigh muscles as well as for calves and hamstrings are also essential. Then cardiovascular training should definitely be on the list. Commence three months prior to the climb. The cardiovascular Stairmaster machine resembles the exact motion of inclined terrain movement. Do these for a continual thirty minutes.

Exercising for stabilization to increase balance levels is important as they decrease possible falling. Remember not to overdo exercising and get enough rest. Training towards endurance is better than getting injured. Increase exercising gradually without streaming towards overloading. Do the cardiovascular exercises at levels that are comfortable.

Handling altitude and fitness levels are important to prepare for the summit attempt as well as enjoying the climb. There is no fun in being pulled by the guide. It is worth preparing for experience and opportunity. Spend time and effort to get fit. Enjoy each step of the climb. The goal of improving stamina and getting fitter will be reached and carried in the spirit of a lifetime achievement.
